Occupational Therapy at Chicopee Rehab and Nursing Center is helping residents build the skills they need for everyday independence—right in the kitchen! 🍳

From cooking a simple meal to safely moving around the kitchen, our residents are working on important skills like cognition, sequencing, and standing balance. Tasks like reaching in and out of the refrigerator, maintaining balance while preparing food, and following each step of a recipe all play a key role in regaining independence.

We also focus on attention to task—can you stay engaged long enough to complete a meal? Can you read and adjust the settings on a griddle to the correct temperature? Can you safely transfer food from the stove to a plate?

Occupational Therapy helps strengthen these essential abilities so our residents can return home with confidence—ready to care for themselves and even their loved ones.

Our Baking Club at Chicopee Rehab and Nursing Center has been busy in the kitchen! 🍪🍫

Residents had a great time whipping up delicious chocolate chip cookies and M&M brownies—filling the halls with the sweetest smells and even sweeter smiles. There’s nothing better than enjoying homemade treats and great company!
